Rob Gray, BKin, CSCS
Strength and Conditioning Coach, Weightlifting Coach
Rob is originally from Vancouver, BC. He attended the University of British Columbia where he completed his Bachelor of Kinesiology degree, specializing in high performance strength and conditioning and coaching.
He is a NCCP 'Certified' Olympic Weightlifting Coach (level 2 technical, 3 theory) and a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
Rob has over 17 years of experience coaching and training Olympic Weightlifting. He competed and medaled in numerous Western Canadian Championships and two National Championships. He was the highest ranked Olympic Weightlifter in B.C. by Sinclair formula 2005 and the snatch record holder from 2009-2015 in 105kg class.
He also worked with the Canadian Bobsleigh Team in a variety of roles for the better part of 10 years. Rob was a Canadian National Team athlete who competed at two World Championships winning the Canadian National Championships in 4man Bobsleigh in 2009. He was the Starts & Strength Coach for Canadian National Team for the World Cup circuit as well as the Alberta/B.C. Bobsleigh and Skeleton Associations Head Starts and Strength Coach. Rob took up Highland Games Heavy Events in 2014 and competed in the Canadian National Championships in 2016 placing 7th in a field where a number of competitors outweighed him by 100 lbs.
He has conducted Olympic Weighlifting clinics with a variety of athletes and teams including volleyball, rugby, football and baseball. He has also coached numerous athletes in their preparation for the Olympics in bobsleigh, skeleton, track cycling and olympic weightlifting.
Rob lives in Calgary with his dog, Porter.
