| Michael Souster, BKIN(Hons), MSc, Director |
With a background in national level athletics and specific training in exercise physiology, Peak Power Director and Co-founder Michael Souster primarily works with power sport athletes. His expertise in running mechanics, footwork, Olympic Lifting and plyometrics provide Michael with the foundation to design and deliver comprehensive programs for power athletes.
After completing his undergraduate work in Kinesiology at the University of Calgary, Michael obtained his Masters of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Alberta. As a former varsity and national level sprinter Michael combines his knowledge of sport science with his experience as an athlete. Michael has worked with the NHLs Edmonton Oilers, and has become the leading strength and conditioning coach within the Calgary Rugby Community as well many National level athletes in other power-based sports. |
| Jeff Osadec MKin, BESS, CSCS |
Jeff took a long road of post secondary education, developmental courses and hands on, practical experience; all in the effort to answer why and how physical changes occur to the body and his development of a holistic approach to training...and how to do it more effectively. Originally from Manitoba, Jeff moved to Calgary in 2005 after successfully completing an undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sports Science from the University of Manitoba and two previous undergraduate degrees from Brandon University (Bachelor of General Studies '00; Bachelor of Education '02).
Jeff began his strength coaching career at the Talisman Centre for Sport and Wellness, North America's second largest health and fitness facility as part of the Athletic Performance Enhancementteam. There, Jeff focused on the training and conditioning for all athletic and sport related athletes, from young developing athletes to professionals.
In 2007, Jeff began his Masters Degree at the University of Calgary. While there, he was an associate strength coach and physiologist for the Canadian Sports Centre and strength coach for the University of Calgary Dinos Developmental Swimming Club. Part of his role during the degree was the development of a non-invasive field test for determining muscle fibre type in athletes. Jeff completed his Masters in Kinesiology in 2009.
Jeff has also completed the Exercise Coach course, through the Institute for Corrective High Performance Exercise Kinesiology in San Diego, California, demonstrating the skills and knowledge to design and implement personalized exercise programs that incorporate traditional exercise with mind-body exercises. As an Exercise Coach, Jeff utilizes a series of assessments used to identify core and autonomic nervous system dysfunctions, which insures the accurate assessment of even the most complex clients and leads to the development of a scientifically sound program to achieve exceptional results. Jeff is also trained in basic, holistic and performance nutrition where he aims to educate how disease and stress are preventable through healthy eating habits, lifestyle management and appropriate types of exercise with the understanding why every meal, every bout of exercise and every late night has positive and negative consequences. He is also a Level 1 CrossFit coach. |
| Shawn Preston M.SEd, B.S, CSCS, ATC |
Shawn received his Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training at the University of Maine-Presque Isle and a Masters in Science Education with a focus of Athletic Training at Old Dominion University. At ODU his research emphasis was focused on the use of functional movement and strength performance testing within Sport Medicine assessment. While studying at ODU he served as a Teaching Assistant for the Exercise Science Department undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as Sport Medicine Graduate Assistant with Christopher Newport University working with the football, basketball, lacrosse, tennis and various other athletic teams. During his time served as Sport Medicine GA he was a part of 6 Conference Championships and numerous trips to the NCAA Championships. He has presented on the topic of Functional Assessment, Sport Medicine and Performance for the USTA and on the regional level.
Shawn recently consulted with NFL Combine and Pro day preparation programs in Los Angeles and Virginia Beach with Velocity Sport Performance working with some of the NFL's young talented athletes as the Manager of Sports Rehab and Performance Specialist respectfully. Over his 5 years of experience Shawn has also had the opportunity to work with many athletes all over the United States and Canada in several sport disciplines ranging from NFL, NHL, AHL, WHL, AJHL, OPJHL, MLB, MMA, AVP-Beach Volleyball, USA Paralympic Soccer, NCAA (div. 1-3) in various sports, and Canadian National teams in Wrestling, Sailing, Tae-Kwon-Do. His services currently have him actively consulting with Canadian National Snowboard teams high performance program, and various athletes and teams with Peak Power Sport Development.
Shawn is dedicated to utilizing a combination of researched methods, and proven techniques of training to enable athletes fulfill their ultimate performance potential. His ability to bridge the gap between performance training and injury prevention allows him to stand out as a Performance Specialist. |
